Jeff Boutin incorporated his talents as an artist at age 20, when he started his own business. He designed and created custom carpets and rugs. The floor was his canvas and wool yarn was his medium.
In 2005, he sold his business and decided to give art a try. He created two paintings and brought them to a gallery for some critiquing. The gallery purchased both pieces and they sold within a week. So began the career as an artist. Jeff paints full-time and is currently in seven galleries in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
With his love of color, Jeff is greatly influenced by Jackson Pollock and Leroy Neiman. He prefers using a palette knife because it enables him to create pieces with heavy texture. His oil paintings take several months to dry due to the amount of thick oil on the canvas.
