Haiku: The Poetry of Nature and Travel
Learn the art of haiku and then, as a group, write a hokku together (super fun). Haikus are very nature-oriented and originated in Japan in the later 1660’s.
An old silent pond
A frog jumps into the pond,
splash! Silence again.
Summer night –
even the stars
are whispering to each other.
Inspiring, sometimes lyrical and beautiful, always fun to write. We’ll explore the history of haiku,
stylings of the masters and contemporary forms. You’ll gain insight, develop a new art form that you
can share and “gift” to others. You’ll never write a boring message on a birthday card again! Have a fun time. Bring a notebook, drawing pad and colored pencils are encouraged.
