Dye Wool Blue with Indigo and Woad (Age 18+ and Adults)

On

FC 1037: Instructor: Mette Christiansen

Learn how to dye wool with the traditional two blue dyes from nature: Indigo and woad.

The process is very different from how to dye other natural dyes. Besides the blue colors, we will over-dye other colors to obtain beautiful purple and green colors.

Students should bring a lunch/beverage. (Beverages are also available to purchase.) There will be breaks as the dye process is finishing, but it is best to stay on location during the process.

Materials To Bring: Good rubber gloves, a plastic bucket, scissors, string (cotton or synthetic), a wooden stick or metal tong (which may not be used for food after the class),  6-8 plastic bags (zip lock type) to carry your wet dyed wool home in, and a notebook. Please wear work clothes (they could get stained blue) and shoes that can get dirty.
